Sharon's Poetry Corner
Sharon Bernice Cross
1963 ~ 1982

ODE TO SHARON...Forever in my heart is a poem that I wrote out of the hurt, pain, frustration and guilt I felt at one point in my life due to losing my beautiful sister Sharon Cross to suicide in January-1982. This page is dedicated to her memory, a memory that will always live on in my heart. Time does heal all wounds but Oh how painful it is when you're going through.  My prayer is that anyone contemplating suicide, would come to the realization of who is really behind the spirit of suicide. If that is you, reading this now...please call 911 immediately and get help or click on this direct link for the national suicide hotline.

Sharon-forever in my heart
Sharon Cross 1963 -1982

Forever in My Heart

by Faye (Faith) Gray Cross

Only God knows the real reason you’re not here
Yet I suspect the real culprit was the spirit of Fear
Evil beckoned you to darkness living up to its name
Surrendered into its grasp made you its fair game

Its cunning ways caressed you with lies and deceit
Embraced by darkness, death looked ever so sweet
Words remain in my heart sorry I never got to say
As I began to speak, you would turn and walk away
Lord, make her stop running to look me in the eye
Surely  she will see the love I have for her inside
I understood your feelings, all the hurt and the pain
Consumed by my own guilt, I felt partly to blame

But God spoke to my heart, child give it all to me
Trust now her life is in my hands, safe and securely

The thief came to steal, kill and destroy all humanity
Jesus came that you may have life more abundantly

I know I’ll see you again and we will quickly embrace
Time will stand still as I behold a new yet familiar face
Warm kisses say hello upon your cheeks and forehead
Unspoken words hiding in my heart will finally be said
Traces of your love remain in the recesses of my mind
I reminisce of your smile that forever glistens and shines

Bright are the days  ahead accentuated by love not hate
The Lord's day will surely come that all of creation awaits
