HOPE  Devotions - Walking In His Goodness

Today's Scriptural Reference:

"For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various  lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.  But when the kindness and the love of God our  Saviour toward man appeared, not  by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:3-7  NKJV
WALKING IN HIS GOODNESS

Originally posted: June 2012

Glory to  our Lord and King and Saviour Jesus Christ! Have you been changed by the  GOODNESS of God? Are you demonstrating through your life the LOVE of Christ,  following in his footsteps in your daily walk with him? God's GOODNESS and GENEROSITY has no limit.

It is  poured out lavishly on those who long to walk closely with Him as did our  spiritual grandfather Enoch and father Abraham, who are both known as God's friend. See James 2:23 Through the Holy Spirit we are changed by the renewing of our mind and heart to reflect all the GOODNESS of God.

Dark spirits, violence, crude jokes and sexually explicit pics are filtered, manifested and seen daily on  social media networks, movie theatres and TV, or heard on radio. For certain, we no longer like the things we once did when of the world.  Have you invited the presence of God's Holy Spirit to change you?

As a result of change, we now walk in LOVE, looking out for the welfare of one another and not hating and envying each other as the world does. Though we live in the world we are not of the world.

How can we say we love God whom we have not seen and be hating our brother whom we see everyday. Do we say we love our brother and yet harbor resentment towards our brother? God knows, we can't get by Him with malice in  our heart.

God's mercy and grace has saved us , wiping the slate clean of our innumerable sins ...thereby we are no longer isolated or alienated  from God ...but instead we are drawn near to God, enabling us to walk in His righteous ways.

The more we appreciate the GOODNESS and GENEROSITY poured out of His spirit,  regenerating us , the more we want to please HIM and be like HIM.  Walking in His GOODNESS will always produce godly fruit which are good fruits worth bearing. Everyone will see the evidence of His  Spirit in us  as we  walk  closely with HIM.

PATIENCE ~ Something we all need

4/2/2016

Patience, long-suffering and forebearance all come from God's Holy Spirit. Something we all need in our life.

It is said that PATIENCE is a virtue. A virtuous woman when found is a good thing saith the Lord. However, it's not always easy to wait on God but remember his timing is ALWAYS right on time. God's patience with us means our SALVATION. 2Pet 3:15 If we appreciate God's patience with us the
n, we will be patient with one another, forgiving one another as need be.

PATIENCE comes out of WISDOM..therefore make wise decisions, seeking the will of God for your life as you wait patiently for his answer and direction. HASTE does make WASTE as the saying goes. Do not be hasty in speaking either, there is a time to be SILENT before God, simply WAIT on God.

Eccles 5:2 However, as we endure under patience, our faith will grow as we learn to fully trust in God and his Word. FAITH comes by HEARING....that is the hearing of the Word of God. Rom 10:17

LOVE and HUMILITY are MIGHTY WEAPONS of GOD

11/13/2015

November is the month we focus on the godly principle and quality of HUMILITY which is an offspring of LOVE. We must surrender our will to that of the Father and imitate his godly qualities which all stem from LOVE. We live in a world that is all about ME, ME, ME and SELF. SELFIEs are in and any consideration of  YOU is out of style. If you are keeping up with the world then likely you don't have much time to think about anyone but yourself. This is the spirit of the world.

That is not the mentality we should take a hold of as Christians. The law of LOVE was written on our hearts when we gave our lives to the Lord. The most important thing to the Lord after saving you and I is saving other SOULS.

It takes humility to think of others rather than just ourselves. We were born in sin because of Adam's sin but the greater Adam has saved us from all sin. His love and spirit transforms us to be new creations. That's right, we are re-created by the transforming power of God's Holy Spirit, becoming truly born again.  When we experience this change of mind and heart we are transformed into soldiers for Christ. Many times the enemy comes along with his deadly weapon, the spirit of OFFENSE.

We should not be surprised by this but many times we get caught up in the web of offenses becoming trapped. The only way to get untangled out of the web of offense is LOVE. It may become necessary to be the first to say we're sorry for something we didn't do just to make peace or confront someone who has offended you. In all cases, humility is required. So we must ask God for his help everyday to fill us with his Holy Spirit and walk in it willingly. .  Praise God

Hope Devotion:   June 5, 2015

Focus: Fruit of the Spirit ~ GOODNESS ~
Practical application: God's goodness should stir heartfelt appreciation in us to walk upright in daily living.

Today's Scriptural Reference:

2Ch 6:40-41 KJV - "40 Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

41 Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in
GOODNESS."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The GOODNESS of God is seen in the above scripture for our encouragement today. Are we not priests of God according to Rev 5:10 we've been made kings and priests unto God. We are clothed with the salvation which comes through the blood of Jesus Christ which is poured out on the mercy seat , the ark of his strength. Let us be forever thankful and rejoice in his GOODNESS saints. Walk daily in his LOVE doing what is pleasing in his eyes! Praise God! Praise his HOLY NAME! Praise the LORD!
HOPE Devotional - The Tab Is On Me!
Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness
Practical Application of text: Treat a stranger to a meal
Today's Scriptural Reference:
2Samuel 9:1 " David asked, "Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?" NIV
Just imagine that David is wanting to show kindness towards someone in the family of  his no. 1 enemy King Saul. Whoever the family member would be, they'd be a complete stranger to David. I think it would be just as hard to show kindness to a stranger as it would be towards our enemy. Whatever the case may be, kindness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit which we should cultivate on a daily basis. Here is a practical application of kindness I would like to share with you.
A few years ago when living in Dallas,  I  heard about this phenomenol idea someone came up with for showing kindness to total strangers and the idea seemed to spread  like wildfire in the metroplex.   The person would go through the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant. When the order taker asked for their order, they would inform them to put the tab of the next person behind them or in front of them if they hadn't paid yet, on them. They would just say, The tab's on me.    You can imagine the response of the person on the receiving end! What a great idea!   Bottom line: simply treat others as you  would like to be treated , with KINDNESS...whether friend, foe or stranger.
Fruit of Spirit: Kindness
Practical Application of scriptural text: Forgive someone whom you feel is undeserving
Today's Scriptural Reference:
"So that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God-not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life." Ephes 2: 7-10  NRSV
Being a Christian dictates a specific lifestyle that is contrary to the way of the world.  When we talk the talk as regards to being a Christian; then we must walk the walk.  It is a walk we gladly take, hand in hand with  Jesus through the Holy Spirit as our guide. The Great Master Teacher himself set the perfect example of showing kindness living a selfless lifestyle even to the point of dying for us while we were yet sinners. See Rom 5: 8  Despite that we were born in sin, we have victory in Jesus and he desires to bless you and I with the immeasurable riches of his grace, his unmerited favor which merits our deepest gratitude and appreciation.  One way we can show our appreciation is by extending kindnesses to others, everyone that we encounter. Any small gesture of kindness will be appreciated, something as simple as a smile, kind words, a card or email; even a phone call to simply  say hello can brighten someone's day. In days to come I will talk about more specific practical ways of developing the godly characteristic of KINDNESS.
God's Timing Is Always Perfect
(April) Fruit of the Spirit: Patience
Practical application: Persist in prayer and supplication for something God has promised you that is not manifested yet.
Today's Scriptural Reference:
1Th 1:3 NKJV - "3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,"
When I started working on this ministry website back in 2011, I had no idea it would take this long to get to the point it is at today. It has truly been a labor of love requiring a lot of PATIENCE on my part. Many times I wondered if God really wanted this ministry to go forward. I questioned myself as to whether this was really what He was calling me to do. Persistence requires patience and endurance when you feel like giving up. But now  that I look back I can see how God was there holding my hand and reaffirming me that this work would someday pay off for  what it was meant to be. I had to learn to stop looking to others to validate this ministry that God had called me to do. I learned by seeking God in my prayer closet that the Holy Spirit was my greatest cheerleader because he was the ONE who led me to do this ministry in the first place. It's really all about HIM anyway. To Him I give all the glory, praise and honor.
Through patience I learned it doesn't have to be a big ministry, helping one person makes it all worth it. A friend of mine recently told me how she had been blessed by this ministry. I had no idea. It has truly helped me to know it can and will help others but it is not the driving force by which I will measure my calling, not anymore.  Without a doubt  when we hope for something not seen it motivates us to persist in hoping in the Lord who gives us  dreams in the first place. It is a work that requires stepping out in faith even though it starts out as a tiny seed thought. But I could see through eyes of faith what the Lord wanted me to do with Hope Devotions. I am truly happy that his Holy Spirit guided me and helped me to cultivate patience, a delectable fruit of the Holy Spirit in my opinion. It leaves such a sweet taste in my mouth.
Fruit of the Spirit: JOY
Application: testify to someone  of the goodness of God in your life!
Practical Application of scriptural text: Sing praises to the Lord;make a joyful noise;
Today's Scriptural Reference:
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name  may be filled with joy. Psalms 5:11 (NLT)
He is the Great I AM, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end...Glory to JEHOVAH Glory to JESUS  Oh how I love his name. Rejoicing in our God is a phenomenal thing because He is so magnificent and glorious. He reveals himself to us in innumerable ways. His countless names speak of his majesty, royalty, eternity, power and more. Moreover, His love is immeasurable yet tangible. Jesus  opened the way to the Father's throne of grace. Hallelujah!
In whom do you trust? Are you trying to figure it out, everything for yourself instead of surrendering to his perfect will? If you would only take cover under his wings and find refuge in his name where you will not fear the terror by night , nor the arror that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at noonday. See Psalm 91: 4-5 NIV Praise God! Rejoice in his goodness and mercy!
HOPE  Devotions  - Love Is Forever Before Me
1/16/2013
Fruit Of Spirit: LOVE
Application: Call someone instead of texting.
Practical Application of scriptural text:
Read bible daily for at least 20min
Today's Scriptural Reference:
"For your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth." Psalm 26:3 (NLT)
God's love is like a compelling force that motivates us to walk in the way of truth.  What is truth?  Jesus said, "Thy word is truth." John 17:17 The Holy Bible is God's love letter to his creation. All creation is sighing and groaning over the detestable things in the world. Jesus was willing to suffer, enduring the cross because of the joy set before him.  His joy was in knowing the truth of bible prophecy concerning himself and his bride, the church of God.
He knew and understood the father's love would raise him from the dead after 3 days and 3 nights in the grave to sit at God's right hand in heaven. God's love revealed through Jesus  is a testament of how profound his love is for us.  Likewise as Christians, let us not forget the price Jesus paid as we walk in the Way of the  truth.  Are you appreciative of God's love?  Are you keeping it before you as you consider your steps each day. If so, you will be motivated and determined to stay on the narrow road that leads to life eternal as you walk continually in the way of truth.
    Welcome
    Hello and Welcome to Hope Devotions, a unique devotional for a unique time.  Although the name Hope Devotions is nothing out of the ordinary nor is it a quirky sounding name, it is simply the perfect acronym to describe our mission and purpose. It means  Healthy Optimistic Perspectives Envisioned through the Holy Spirit.
    Each month HOPE  devotions
    highlights a fruit of the Holy Spirit. This will serve as a guide to help us develop Godly character. Life presents daily challenges yet our experience is greatly influenced by the way we look at things. How do you  perceive life in spite of its challenges? in the world the spirit  of FEAR, GLOOM and DOOM has spread a canopy of spiritual darkness that covers  the entire earth. Compare Ephes 6:12  The good news is that God has transferred us into his marvelous LIGHT through His Word and Holy Spirit. So get ignited by looking through the lens of the Holy Spirit, which excels the HOPE that God gives to cast any horror(darkness) out of your view.  Psalm 18:28 NKJV - "28 For You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness."
